Tom Peacock, the founder of Peacock’s Marching World, was involved in marching bands since his Junior High School days. He won many awards as Drum Major, among them the title of State Champion Drum Major . He taught at multiple Drum Major camps for 24 years including California Specialties Camps (which later became USA Camps) and Smith Walbridge. Tom has also taught and worked with Drum Majors from Japan, Australia, Israel, England and Germany.

In 1968 Tom married Nancy Lemons and the following year, Tom started his business called T.P. Enterprises. He worked out of the music store The Keyboard where he tuned, repaired and sold pianos. T.P. Enterprises sold Premier Drum Major Maces and started doing repairs on maces. In 1971, Tom created the American Mace. He was able to develop a mace that would hold up through the high tosses and routines the Drum Majors were doing. He started out working from his garage. In 1974, Tom expanded the Drum Major items he manufactured to include the American Baton and began selling Drum Major supplies and soon he was supplying bands with more and more items, including Colorguard items. In January of 1997, Peacock’s Marching World’s website was activated and it was one of the first marching band supplies website and was very well received.

In 1998, Tom and Nancy’s son, Wesley Peacock, joined the business and later in 2001, Rebecca (soon to be Wesley’s wife), joined the company. The four Peacock’s worked the business and the retail as well as the wholesale business grew. In 2007, they moved the business to Kingman, Arizona and in January of 2012, Wesley and Rebecca purchased the wholesale and manufacturing side of Peacock Baton Company and they started devoting all their efforts in further developing and improving the drum major line. It is very rewarding for Tom and Nancy to see the tradition of their Drum Major line continued on by their son and his family.

In August of 2012, the retail side of Peacock’s Marching World was purchased by Ben Schroeder allowing Tom and Nancy to retire and spend time with their family. Ben has been involved in the marching band activity for over 20 years. He started in High School as an award-winning Drum Major at Glendora High School, earned the title State Champion Drum Major, competed at Scottish Games, was a USA Drum Major instructor, an adjudicator for American Competitions, sat on the Board of Directors for World Drum Major Association (WDMA), and has been a private instructor for over 20 years.   Ben is currently a member and judge for the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) and is a consultant to many Drum Major organizations.

Currently, Peacocks Marching World is located in Goleta, CA. This was done to provide faster service to our West Coast customers (and to avoid relocating Ben’s young daughters). Peacocks Marching World has works to continue its leadership position and has redesigned the website to make it easier and faster to order, has committed to being a Certified Green Business, and created a monthly Newsletter to feature members of the Marching Band Community.

Everybody on staff has experience with either Marching Band, Colorguard, Drum Major, Concert Band, or Scottish Games. We are here to help, welcome your questions, and appreciate you taking the time to visit our website.
